If you are searching for a new van, a few options are available to make a choice easy. The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica is one of four minivans available. There are several reasons why you might decide it’s perfect for you.
First, the Pacifica offers an available all-wheel drive system to improve traction in northern climates. Second, a class-exclusive hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version is available that delivers about 32 miles of range on electricity before the gas-powered V6 kicks in to give you 30 mpg combined. Third, although not available on the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, Stow ‘n Go seats make it straightforward to convert this minivan from a seven-passenger shuttle to a dump truck with up to 140.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity in minutes. Fourth, every Pacifica is loaded with technology, from a cloud-connected infotainment system and Amazon Fire TV rear-seat entertainment system to popular driver assistance and collision avoidance systems.

The Pacifica’s controls are easy to use. The radio and climate control knobs are well-placed and within the driver’s reach. Chrysler’s tuning controls on the back of the steering wheel and optional radio volume still make a lot of sense to us.
The Pacifica is easy to get in and out of thanks to its low sills, large door openings, high roofline, and well-positioned seats. The range of adjustment from the driver’s seat and the steering wheel is large. There’s plenty of legroom up front, and large windows all around provide excellent visibility and limit blind spots. An optional 360-degree camera system makes maneuvering in tight spaces even easier.
The Stow ‘n Go’s second-row captain’s chairs have limited adjustment, so legroom is tighter than some other minivans. The third row is comfortable but still suitable for adults on short trips.
Pacifica’s Uconnect infotainment system excels in ease of use, features, and smartphone integration. A large touch screen emphasizes this with clear graphics and a quick response to touch and voice input. It offers wireless connectivity and Bluetooth for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration systems. Multiple USB ports are also available for your devices. Available mobile internet connections include Alexa pairing and the Uconnect app, which lets you control some of the van’s functions via your phone. An optional seatback video system can also stream media into the van.
Advanced driver aids are standard and plentiful, including adaptive cruise (which will stop and go without additional driver input), forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, and lane keeping. The optional 360-degree camera is a worthy addition.
Minivans are all about utility and efficient use of space. The Pacifica, like its counterparts, has a deep storage well behind the third-row seat. Manual folding of the third-row seats is relatively easy, and Chrysler offers a power-folding option.
The versatility of the second row is where the Pacifica excels. You can fold the smart Stow ‘n Go seats onto the floor with minimal effort. You can also use their underfloor storage spaces for additional cargo storage when unfolding. There are pockets, coasters, cups for every gemstone, a bottle cap, and coins your kids will find on the ground.
Speaking of young people, the placement in the car seat is excellent. LATCH anchors are easily accessible. The second-row seats are less adjustable than the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid but still provide decent room for forward-facing child seats and parental access. And the buckles are convenient for children who wear boosters.
When properly equipped, the Pacifica offers a maximum payload of 3,600 pounds. It’s similar to other minivans on the market.
The Chrysler Pacifica comes in four trim levels: Touring, Limited, Touring L, and Pinnacle. A 3.6-liter V6 engine (287 hp, 262 lb-ft) is standard on the Pacifica. A nine-speed automatic transmission drives the front wheels of the minivan. On all models, an all-wheel drive is an option.
A modified version of that V6 is combined with an electric motor, a 16kWh battery, and a continuously variable transmission to create the PHEV powertrain in the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid. Pacifica Plug-in hybrids make 260 hp, offer an estimated 32 miles of electric range, and average 30 mpg combined when the V6 is engaged. The minivan operates as a traditional hybrid vehicle. However, you can’t get AWD on the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid.
